Aqua Water Supply Corporation in Bastrop, Texas, has broken ground on an elevated storage tank named in honor of a longtime employee who died in 2016 after a battle with cancer. The new tower will stand 150 feet tall and hold one million gallons of water. It is scheduled for completion in September 2025.
In other news, the company is modeling conservation and sustainability with a multi-phase xeriscaping project. Xeriscaping is a landscaping approach that relies on drought-resistant plants and efficient irrigation techniques. Phase I of the project, at its main office, is now complete, and future phases will expand the use of xeriscaping to its other facilities.
El Paso Water in El Paso, Texas, celebrated its Skills for Sustainability training program after one year in operation. In a newsletter, the regional water organization reported that it is filling critical positions at its water and wastewater plants as a result of the program. READ MORE
Mustang Special Utility District in Aubrey, Texas, has launched a “Treatment Tuesday” social media campaign to educate its community about the water treatment process. “We'll dive deeper into the fascinating processes that ensure we have clean, safe water in our homes and that wastewater is treated and returned to nature cleaner than our lakes and rivers,” says a Facebook post.
